Gastonia Man Charged In Son's Stabbing

GASTONIA, N.C. -- A Gastonia man stabbed his son multiple times with a hatchet-like weapon, police said early Thursday.Police said the stabbing happened in the 100 block of South Webb Street in Gastonia just before 6 a.m.The father, whose name has not been released, was quickly taken into custody and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.The son was taken to Gaston Memorial Hospital and then airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. His condition is not known at this time.Police initially said the man was the victim’s stepfather.Eyewitness News will have more on this story later today.
