LANCASTER, S.C. -- A man was found dead directly across the street from the Lancaster Police Department this afternoon.

A family member, who hadn't seen the man since Monday, noticed a door unlocked and walked in.

She found him on the kitchen floor at a home on East Arch Street in Lancaster; he'd been shot several times.

Police were able to walk from their headquarters to the older white home across the street.

We know the victim is black and in his 20's or 30's. Police say he lived alone in the house.

Police have not confirmed how long the man has been dead.

East Arch Street is a busy area, and has been slowed Thursday afternoon by onlookers.
