New Anchor for WSOC-TV’s Early Morning News

Thursday, June 12, 2008 – updated: 3:30 pm EDT June 12, 2008

Natalie Pasquarella becomes the newest member of the Eyewitness News team when she begins anchor duties on “Channel 9 Eyewitness News Daybreak” and “Channel 9 Eyewitness News Midday” in August. Pasquarella will co-anchor both newscasts with Scott Wickersham.

Pasquarella comes to Charlotte from WSOC-TV Channel 9 sister station, WTOV-9 in Steubenville, Ohio. Both stations are owned by Cox Television. At WTOV, she anchored the 11 p.m. weeknight news.

"I am both honored and excited to become part of the WSOC team,” said Pasquarella. “I look forward to covering the Carolinas, interacting with the community, and bringing the most important, valuable local news to viewers every morning on ‘Channel 9 Eyewitness News Daybreak’ and every afternoon on ‘Channel 9 Eyewitness News Midday.’ I am happy to call Charlotte my new home.”

During her time at WTOV, Pasquarella covered news from across the Ohio Valley. She often reported on live breaking news during early evening newscasts then followed those stories throughout the night and returned to the studio to anchor the 11 p.m. newscast. In addition to general assignment reporting she has done in-depth investigative reporting on sex offenders, including an online investigation with police tracking predators.

This year, the West Virginia Associated Press honored Pasquarella for her investigative reporting.

Pasquarella started her television career while attending Kent State University where she reported, anchored and produced the news for cable channel KSU-TV2. She then went to New York City, where she spent a summer with New York One News, covering stories in all five boroughs. She has also reported for and anchored a teen civics show for an Ohio PBS station.

In addition to her job as a journalist, she enjoys being involved in the community. Pasquarella sits on the board of the Jefferson County (Ohio) Chapter of the American Red Cross. She also takes part in the annual American Heart Association heart walk.

Pasquarella was born and raised in Steubenville, Ohio.

WSOC-TV is owned by Cox Television. Cox Television operates 15 television stations and two local cable channels in 11 markets, 3 national television sales representation firms, 1 national digital sales company, and a Washington DC news bureau. Cox Television is part of Cox Broadcasting, Inc., a subsidiary of Cox Enterprises, Inc., one of the nation’s leading media companies and providers of automotive services.
