Fire Burns Gastonia Business

GASTONIA, N.C. -- Firefighters were called to a fire at a Gastonia business early Monday morning. Officials said it started just before 5 a.m. in the rear of Shirley’s Variety Store on East Ozark Avenue. Officials with Gaston County said three stations responded to the fire.An Eyewitness News crew on the scene said the fire is under investigation and officials do not know what started the fire.The fire closed part of Ozark Avenue while crews worked to put it out. Fire crews expected to open Ozark Avenue by 8 a.m. Monday.
