Pooch Passes No Longer Needed

POSTED: 6:56 am EDT July 1, 2008
UPDATED: 7:12 am EDT July 1, 2008

Starting Tuesday, Mecklenburg county dog owners can throw out their pooch passes!

The county’s park and recreation department will no longer charge to walk dogs in county dog parks. Pooch passes are no longer sold or required. Dog owners must still vaccinate their animals before taking them to the parks.

The decision to make the dog parks free was taken from other areas like Raleigh that run free dog parks. The electronic entry systems into the dog parks will also be removed.

Dog parks are located at:

-McAlpine Creek Park, 8711 Monroe Rd, Charlotte

-Reedy Creek Park, 2900 Rocky River Rd, Charlotte

-Ramsey Creek Park 18441 Nantz Rd, Cornelius

-William R. Davie Park, 4635 Matthews-Pineville

All of these locations also offer off-leash areas within the parks.
