Lightning Struck Boat On Lake Norman

Posted: 11:10 pm EDT July 5, 2008Updated: 11:45 pm EDT July 5, 2008

Lightning struck a boat tied to several others at Lake Norman, in Iredell County, Saturday afternoon. No one was injured.

"We saw lightning hitting a lot of the lake," said Aaron Feldman, who witnessed the lightning strike outside his home. "It hit the boat and I saw some smoke come up from the boat."

North Carolina wildlife officers said the storms likely deterred many boaters from enjoying the long, holiday weekend on the lake. "The rain put a damper on things," said North Carolina wildlife officer Kyle Voris.
