Charlotte, NC -- Severe thunderstorms passed through the greater Charlotte area Sunday night.

Powerful wind gusts brought down trees and power lines in several sections of Charlotte.

In Denver, NC a large tree came crashing down on top of a camper with a man inside. A neighbor helped him out of the trailer before firefighters arrived. The man is staying with relatives tonight.

And firefighters are investigating a house fire in Tega Cay where they call lightning a possible cause. The home once belonged to former Charlotte Hornets owner, George Shin. The current owners are away on vacation in Myrtle Beach and cannot be reached for comment.
