Documents Reveal Items Seized From Homes Of Suspected Gang Members

Friday, July 18, 2008 – updated: 4:18 pm EDT July 18, 2008

Federal documents released Friday show just what investigators took from the homes of alleged MS-13 gang members arrested last month.

On June 24, federal and local authorities raided the homes of several accused gang members and charged them with crimes ranging from murder to drug trafficking. Officers documented they found guns, knives and drugs in five homes on the same day as the raids.

The homes searched were 4141 Conway Avenue #H, 4726 Cheviot Road, 606 C Archdale Drive, 2318 Markham Court and 4228 Oakwood Road.

Inside some homes, authorities found marijuana, and possibly heroin and cocaine in one of the residences.

The items investigators seized may give some insight into the violent nature of gang. In Johnny Gonzalez's home, officers said they found a handgun, bullets and a machete.

A total of 26 suspected gang members are now in jail awaiting trial.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said it's too soon to tell if there's been a drop in gang activity following the raids.

Police said there could be more arrests. They're still following up on leads from the federal investigation.
