Posted: 6:32 am EDT July 20, 2008Updated: 12:59 pm EDT July 20, 2008

A man was found shot in the head in east Charlotte early Sunday morning.

Police said they found Terrance Willis at Oak Park apartments on Eastcrest Drive at about 4 a.m.

Willis was taken to Carolina’s Medical Center. Eyewitness News has learned he is in critical condition.

Investigators said they don’t know when or where the shooting took place but believe Willis went back inside his apartment and used his cell phone to call for help. Officers said he waited for police on the steps of his apartment.

Police said homicide detectives were called to investigate the incident because of the seriousness of the injury Willis received.

Authorities said they do not have a suspect at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
