Police: 4-Month Old Puppy Brutally Beaten By Juveniles

Posted: 12:53 pm EDT August 2, 2008Updated: 7:56 pm EDT August 3, 2008

It’s a heartbreaking story, as a puppy is recovering after a brutal beating from several people in Wadesboro.

Police responded to a disturbance call at an abandoned house on Cherry Street in Wadesboro. They found the 4-month old puppy severely beaten in the house.

Investigators said the dog was beaten with a sledgehammer, beer bottle and a rock. He lost an eye and will probably lose the use of one leg and possibly has a fractured skull.

The vacant house he was found in, is located next door to his owner’s house. Police are looking into how he got from his home to the abandoned building.

Police said the case is still under investigation but they believe four juveniles and 1 or 2 adults involved in the beating. Officers hope to make some arrests on Monday.

The puppy is at the Homeward Bound Humane Society in Anson County. Volunteers said donations are needed in order to cover medical bills for the puppy. If you would like to help with the puppy’s recovery please follow the link below.
