CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Groups of parents took to Charlotte streets Saturday night on the first “Stop The Killing” patrol. The patrol is aimed at keeping teenagers out of trouble.

Parents looked for any children who were out and discouraged them from going down the wrong path.

The event came after two teen brothers, 18-year-old Terry Long and 17-year-old Joshua Davis, were shot and killed in west Charlotte in June.

Another teen, 17-year-old Montrez Williams, is charged with both murders.

The victims’ mother was one of the parents on the patrol.

“We want to ask them why,” said Andrea Long. “What are their hobbies, what are their goals? We get their address and phone number and when would be a good time to talk with them and parents about reaching out to them and doing activities with them.”

The group said it hopes to end teen-on-teen violence, which they said is an epidemic in their community.
