Low Gas Prices Aren’t Changing How Charlotte Commuters Drive

Thursday, August 14, 2008 – updated: 6:00 am EDT August 14, 2008

Prices at the pump are continuing to fall around the Charlotte area, despite a rise in oil prices overseas.

Overnight, oil prices rose for a second day in Asia, approaching $117 per barrel. The hike comes after U.S. gasoline supplies more than expected.

And around Charlotte, Eyewitness News checked prices at the pump Thursday morning.

At the Circle K station on Mallard Creek Church Road, the price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas was $3.75. According to AAA, the average price in Charlotte is at $3.82.

Despite gas prices dropping about 30 cents since last month, several drivers told Eyewitness News that they are still cutting back on their driving.

They said the price drop just isn’t enough to make a difference in their wallets. Drivers told Eyewitness News that they are still being very frugal with their driving habits.
