Posted: 4:32 pm EDT August 27, 2008

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has fired a bus driver who allowed a 26-year-old man onto the bus headed for Southwest Middle School early Monday, a CMS spokeswoman said Wednesday.

Investigators said Jase Edward Squires, a part-time employee of 96.1 “The Beat,” got on the bus as part of a morning radio show prank.

Squires is charged with disturbance on a school bus. He has a previous criminal record.
