HICKORY, N.C. -- A chain-reaction crash involving seven cars shut down I-40 in Hickory for about an hour Wednesday.

The accident happened near the Highway 321 interchange.

N.C. state troopers said one of the drivers was seriously hurt.

A pickup truck ended up sliding through the wet median and down a steep embankment.

Driver said it was raining when the crashes happened.
