CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A Charlotte woman died in a crash early Thursday in west Charlotte.

Police said driver Joseph Kale lost control of his car and hit a pole on Wilkinson Boulevard. Passenger Karen Kale was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center, where she died.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating the crash.
