Woman Struck With Hammer After Northwest Charlotte Crash

Thursday, September 4, 2008 – updated: 2:57 pm EDT September 4, 2008

A woman involved in a northwest Charlotte crash was hit in the arm with a hammer after she got out of her car, police said.

The crash happened on Exchange Street off Toddville Road around 11:15 a.m. Thursday. Officer Robert Fey said the woman got out of her car and the two men in the other vehicle got out and tried to rob the woman.

The woman was struck with a hammer during the incident, Fey said.

The men ran into nearby woods, leaving behind a metallic blue Honda Civic. Fey said police believe the men got into a four-door Plymouth driving toward Hovis Road.

Police are searching the area.
