CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Last month the new Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Chief Rodney Monroe announced his reorganization plans to add more than 100 officers to the streets. Those changes, that included the disbanding of specialized units like the international relations unit, went into effect on Saturday."We have a bunch of new officers coming in," said University City division officer Sara Golshani, "We got six new officers that are actually going to start on Monday."Golshani believes more patrol officers will mean quicker responses."They're [victims] not going to have to wait so long," said officer Golshani. "They're definitely going to see a difference in how quickly we're able to respond."Neighbor Rachel Miller said additional patrols will make her feel safer."I think if we have a police car ride through here, just to make sure nothing looks suspicious, I think that'll help a lot," said Miller.
