Flooding Victims Get Help From State And Federal Officials

Saturday, September 6, 2008 – updated: 11:22 pm EDT September 6, 2008

The U.S. Small Business Administration and state officials are offering help to flood victims.

Both low-interest loans and grants are available, officials said. Two locations will be open for the next week for victims to apply.

Mecklenburg County officials said that more than 500 homeowners were affected by the floods. They urged those homeowners to apply for help

"The best thing to do is assume that there's a possibility it can cover everything," Mecklenburg County Storm Water Service Director, Dave Canaan said.

"Come down, fill out an application, talk to the state and federal employees who are here to help and then we can take it from there."

The two locations will be open this week.

Mecklenburg County: Hal Marshall Annex 618 N. College St., Charlotte Saturday-Friday, 8am-5pm

Cabarrus County: Old Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office 25 Corban Avenue, Concord Saturday-Friday, 8am-5pm
