Police Show Item Found Near Where York Employee Fatally Wounded

Monday, October 6, 2008 – updated: 6:16 pm EDT October 6, 2008

A week after a York city employee was found shot to death, police are revealing something they hope is a key to solving the case.

York police want residents to take a look at a flip flop found its matching behind the Laundromat on Blackburn Street, where 63-year-old Ernest Tolbert was killed.

Tolbert worked for the city of York, but also cleaned up at that Laundromat at night.

Police said they aren't sure if the shoes belong to the shooter or a possible witness, but Detective Billy Mumaw said someone saw something last Sunday night.

"I think that if you know something about this, and you don't tell it, that makes you just as guilty as the murderer himself,” he said.

If you know anything that could help York police, call York County Crime Stoppers at (877) 409-4321.
