Robbers Strike Neighboring Dilworth Businesses, Shoot Restaurant Owner

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police are searching for two men who robbed a pair of neighboring businesses in Dilworth and shot one of the business owners.Investigators are looking for clues inside the Park Road businesses and inside a stolen minivan believed to have been used as a getaway car.Officers said around 9:45 p.m. Monday, the armed men walked into Queen City Pizza on Park Road and demanded money from the only employee inside. One of the robbers shot co-owner Joel Doliveck, 59, in his leg. He is out of the hospital and recovering at home."It could've been worse," said Doliveck's son-in-law, Justin Lan.Minutes after the first robbery, the same thieves held up the China Saute next door, police said. The couple working inside said the men held guns to their heads during the robbery, but neither was injured."This is scary," said Xiao Xie, the owner’s wife said.As the robbers pulled out of the parking lot, they hit the pickup truck of a Queen City Pizza employee.Police said they found the white minivan the robbers used to get away a short while later.The owners of both restaurant said they now plan on installing surveillance cameras.Anyone with information that could help police is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600.
