IREDELL CO., N.C. -- A 71-year-old Charlotte man has been arrested on child sex charges in Iredell County.

Eyewitness News’ newspaper partner, the Statesville Record and Landmark, reported that police charged Howard Knauf Sr. with taking indecent liberties with a child.

The alleged victim is a 14-year-old girl.

A detective with the county’s Special Victims Unit said other incidents may have occurred in Mecklenburg County with the same victim. All information regarding the case has been handed over to authorities there.

Authorities believe the victim and the suspect are related.
