CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Carolina Panthers (10-3) were rewarded on Tuesday by the league when their Dec. 21 matchup with the N.Y. Giants was moved to 8:15 p.m. to be televised nationally on NBC's "Sunday Night Football."After carving up the Buccaneers on Monday Night to the tune of a franchise record 299 rushing yards, the league made the decision to move the original 1 p.m. start back. The matchup could prove to be the ultimate decider in home field advantage throughout the playoffs in the NFC with the Giants sitting at 11-2. If the Panthers win their remaining three games they would not only win the NFC South but also clinch the No. 1 seed in the playoffs and benefit from a first-round bye.In 2006, the league implemented its flex scheduling, where they move games around according to matchup and playoff-bound teams. This change means the Panthers would appear on "Sunday Night Football" for the first time since 2006, where they fell to the Dallas Cowboys 35-14 at Bank of America Stadium.Including games on Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights, the Panthers have a 9-11 overall mark in prime time during the regular season. The matchup vs. the Giants would be the Panthers' second prime-time game on national television in 13 days. This also would be the third game that has been moved due to the flex scheduling this season, the week 12 vs. Atlanta was moved from 1 to 4:15 ET, as well as this Sunday's matchup vs. the Broncos.Monday Milestones: Running back DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart become the first teammates in NFL history to rush for at least 100 yards, two touchdowns and average seven yards per carry in the same game. This was the second time in a little over a month as well as only the second occurrence in the Panthers 14-year history that teammates both rushed for over 100 yards in the same game. The previous occured on November 16, 2008 vs the Detroit Lions at Bank of America stadium. Running back DeAngelo Williams became only the third player in Panthers' team history to rush for more than 1,000 yards with his 186 yards and two touchdown performance on Monday night. The last player to do so was Stephen Davis in 2003 with 1,444 yards. Williams' total after 13 game this season is 1,141 yards. Rookie running back, Jonathan Stewart, scored twice on Monday night and set a new Panthers' team record for most rushing touchdowns by a rookie with eight surpassing Fred Lane who scored seven in 1997. Steve Smith set a Panthers' team record with his 28th career 100-yard receiving game on Monday night, surpassing Muhsin Muhammad. Smith recorded his sixth 100-yard receiving game this season which stands as third most in Panthers' history behind only his own team-record nine in 2005 and Muhammad's seven in 2004. Carolina set a Bank of America Stadium attendance record with a crowd of 74,113 - the second-largest attendance at a regular-season home game in team history. The franchise record is 76,136 versus San Francisco (12/10/95) at Clemson's Memorial Stadium during the team's inaugural season. The Panthers improved to 10-3 with the win, the team's best record after 13 games in franchise history. Carolina previously posted 9-4 marks in 1996 and 2005.A portion of this information was provided by panthers.com and the NFL.
