Providence High Students To Witness History

Dozens of students from Providence High School went to Washington, D.C., for the presidential inauguration of Barack Obama.

The group spent Sunday night touring the monuments on the National Mall.

For some, it was their first time in the nation’s capitol. But it will be the first presidential inauguration for all of the students.

“I’m psyched,” said senior Bryan Perlmutter. “It’s a crazy moment that this is happening and that I can witness history.”

“It’s very exciting, everyone’s just excited,” said senior Jason Fishkin. “It gave me goose bumps how many people were cheering and excited and all that.”

A total of 31 students from Providence High made the trip.

They will go to a ball tonight with other high school students from across the country. Then the group will be on the National Mall on Tuesday as Obama is sworn in.
