‘America’s Most Wanted’ To Feature Deadly Sun Drop Plant Shootings

Posted: 4:48 pm EDT April 22, 2009Updated: 5:36 pm EDT April 22, 2009

Clinging to each other, a Concord couple pleaded Wednesday for the public’s help in solving a double slaying that happened more than 10 months ago.

"Him being caught will help us heal. Just anybody that knows anything (please come forward)," said Jennifer Brooks.

Brooks' father was shot to death in the Sun Drop Bottling plant in Concord last June. Darrell Noles, 44, was applying for a job when a robber walked in and fired on him and employee Donna Barnardt, 59. She also died.

Police released a sketch of a possible suspect shortly after the killings, but no one has been arrested.

"Day by day, you're thinking, ‘OK, am I passing him today or where is he at?’ We just want him caught," Brooks said.

Brooks’ husband is a Concord Special Weapons and Tactics officer who was called to the shooting scene last year. It wasn’t long before he was rerouted to hear the bad news.

“The major called me and told me they need me to come in and see him as soon as possible," said Lance Brooks.

On Wednesday, the TV show "America's Most Wanted" reenacted the crime.

Concord detectives said they have gotten hundreds of leads in the case, but now they are stuck and they hope the national attention will bring the answers that both they and family members are looking for.

"Just not our area -- this made news nationwide that day. Somebody knows something. There's a little puzzle piece that we need," Lance Brooks said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Concord investigators at 704-920-5055.
