It took 27 firefighters more than 20 minutes to put out the flames at a home on Lewhaven Drive in northwest Charlotte.

That is located near Freedom Drive.

Firefighters said the man who lives in the home was not there when the fire started.

Crews said it looks like the fire started in the back bedroom, and caused more than $30,000 in damage.

So far there is no word on what sparked the blaze.
