CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A woman said she was robbed overnight by a man who apologized and gave her a phone number, promising to pay her back.Crisha Warden said she saw a man she vaguely recognized when she stopped at a Circle K convenience store in Grier Heights about 10 p.m. Thursday, and he approached her wanting to talk. She waved him off and entered the story, thinking nothing of it until she left and pulled up at a stop light down the block.“I guess he started walking. He saw us drive past and he hopped in the car,” she said.Warden’s shock turned to fear when the man, who she knows only by the nickname “Black,” refused to get out of her SUV.“He says, ‘You’re going straight,’ and I said no, my house is that way, I’m not going straight. He’s like, ‘No, you’re going straight,’ and that’s when he showed me the gun,” she said.Warden said the man pointed the gun at her 11-year-old sister, Nadia, and forced her to drive around until he demanded money. She only had $8, and she said the man threatened her life if she didn’t come up with more. She called her boss at Anzi’s Pizza and told him she needed money quickly. Warden’s boss gave the money to her sister, not knowing what it was for.Warden said the man then forced her to drop him off at an apartment complex, but not before offering an apology and a phone number.“He did give me his phone number, and he said, ‘I’m going to pay you back,’ and told me he was doing it for his son,” she said.Eyewitness News reporter Alan Cavanna called the phone number today, and got a recorded message saying the phone was off or the customer was out of the service area.Charlotte-Mecklenburg police do not yet have a suspect, and refused further comment on the case.
