CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police hope tiny new lights at one Charlotte intersection will make roads safer. They are called “tattle-tale lights”, and they're the first of their kind in North Carolina.Crews installed them at the intersection of LaSalle Street and Beatties Ford Road. The lights work like this: when a stop light turns red, the tattle-tale light across the street comes on. This allows officers to know when a driver has run a red light, but also allows them to chase down the driver without following through a dangerous intersection."It'll be safer for us to go after somebody, and safer for the public when we go after somebody," Officer Adam Planty said. Two more sets of tattle-tale lights will go up soon. More could be added next year.
