Elderly Couple Shot To Death Inside Lakefront Home

Investigators said a caretaker discovered the elderly couple shot to death at their home on John Gamble Road Thursday afternoon.

Neighbors said it appears the husband and wife decided to end their lives together.

Police were quick to say they're not looking for any suspects, but instead believe it was a murder-suicide.

"Currently, right now, we aren't looking for any suspects and we're not looking for any suspects," said Capt. Kevin Black.

Eyewitness News spoke to one neighbor who said he estimated the two to be in their 90s, and in failing health. Frank Spittle said the couple was inseparable for the 30 years he knew them.

"I'm not sad. Because they evidently decided that life wasn't worth living. And they decided to go together," he said.

Autopsies must still be performed to confirm the causes of deaths.
