Bernard Madoff Sent To N.C. Prison

WASHINGTON -- The Bureau of Prisons website reported early Tuesday morning that Bernie Madoff is in a federal prison in Atlanta.

The Associated Press is reporting that the stop is just a layover and Madoff will continue on to the federal prison in Butner, North Carolina.

The 71-year-old Madoff was sentenced last month after admitting he bilked thousands of investors out of billions of dollars in a massive Ponzi scheme. He will serve a 150-sentence.
