Police Make Arrests During DWI Checkpoint

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police in Charlotte arrested more than 20 people and wrote 139 tickets during a DWI Checkpoint on Eastway Drive near The Plaza in East Charlotte Friday night.Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officers, State Troopers and Mecklenburg ABC Officers ticketed 20 people for DWI, had 74 license violations, found five open containers and found four people with drug charges.The rest of the tickets were for tag and insurance violations.Police said they served one warrant.
