CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police in Charlotte are looking for a man who they said is behind a string of break-ins in Charlotte’s uptown neighborhoods.Officers said they’ve identified 42-year-old Mark Summers from surveillance video and believe he is responsible for as many as 15 break-ins over the last six weeks. In many of those break-ins, police said victims lived on the second- or third-floor units and felt relatively secure, but they said Summers managed to hoist himself up onto balconies and break in through windows or sliding doors.“He’s responsible for a spike in our uptown numbers,” Sgt. Dave Moorefield said.Moorefield said police believe Summers has had help in some of those break-ins, but they have not identified any other suspects.Summers has been arrested only once in Charlotte over the last three years. That was in 2008 on unrelated charges, but police said they have not been able to find him since. They are asking anyone who knows where he is to call 911.
