Police: Kidnapped Woman Jumps From Car

Man Arraigned Wednesday

A man was arraigned Wednesday on kidnapping charges after the alleged victim jumped out of a moving car on Tuesday night in Natick, Mass., reported WCVB-TV in Boston.

State police received a 911 call at about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday from a woman who said she was being held against her will in a dark-colored car. Dispatchers confirmed the caller's Lexington, Mass., location with cell phone GPS.

The alleged victim told investigators that she had met the man in an online forum and thought he was a former classmate. The woman told investigators that she realized the man had lied about his identity once she was in his car.

"We allege that the defendant knowingly misled the victim about his identity during an online conversation in order to arrange a meeting with her. The defendant then held the victim against her will in a moving vehicle," District Attorney Gerry Leone said.

Cruisers were sent to the area to locate the car, which exited Route 128 onto the Massachusetts Turnpike, police said. The caller then said she was going to jump out of the car.

The vehicle continued and exited onto Route 30 in Natick. The woman was found near the exit and taken to Metrowest Hospital in Framingham.

Police arrested Willian Vieira, 21, at a residence in Natick a short time later. He was released on personal recognizance after his arraignment Wednesday.
