CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Some airline passengers stayed at Charlotte Douglas International Airport overnight Monday as airlines tried to catch up from Monday's delayed and canceled flights.Nearly 45 flights at Charlotte Douglas were canceled or diverted Monday, airport official said. Flights also backed up around the country.Eyewitness News talked to a soldier who missed his connecting flight in Charlotte, trying to get home to Los Angeles."Our first flight in Richmond was delayed by over an hour, and then we got here a couple of minutes earlier and we missed our flight completely," Edgar Rivas said.Airport officials said landing and taking off in fog can be difficult for some planes. Full-size jets have the computer technology to operate in fog, while smaller planes do not.
