CONCORD --
Even though the Coca Cola 600 race ended Sunday night, some race fans were literally "stuck" in the mud surrounding Lowe's Motor Speedway until the next day.
Some vehicles remained parked in the in-field waiting for an opportunity to leave, while other vehicles were stuck in parking lots outside the track.
Several camper and RV owners had no choice but to be towed out of the mud-filled lots on Monday. The track provided free tows to anyone who asked.
One driver providing tows said that he had already pulled about 30 vehicles away from the mud and estimated that an additional 30 vehicles were waiting to be towed.
Nearly 30 percent of the speedway parking was lost to mud. Race track officials are already looking at making changes for next year's race, which may include more gravel, more grass and better satellite parking arrangements.
