Charlotte, N.C. -- Businesses are getting more of your tax dollars.

Charlotte city leaders voted to give Electrolux and Husqvarna a combined $538,000 in tax dollars in incentives. The companies promise to create roughly 900 total jobs-- and pump $147 million into the local economy.

But- Eyewitness News found out- the incentives come with a lot of strings attached. The businesses have to stick around for a certain number of years, create a certain number of jobs, and meet certain salary goals.

Charlotte city council member Andy Dulin said, "If those salaries drop down, then it's off."

The companies also have to pay all of their property taxes before they see any tax dollars back.

Charlotte city council member Nancy Carter said, "If they don't meet that- we don't pay- or we get a claw back of what we've given before."

The city won't give Electrolux or Husqvarna anything for at least two more years.
