Police Issue 144 Charges During Overnight Checkpoint

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police said they issued 144 charges during a DWI checkpoint in northeast Charlotte overnight Thursday.Officers set up on the 1500 block of East W.T. Harris Boulevard for four hours. During that time, they charged seven people with DWI. Police said they also issued four charges for open containers of alcohol.A total of 35 people were driving with a revoked license and another 43 were driving with no license.Police also issued three charges for child seat violations and 51 charges for other infractions, like tags, inspection and insurance violations.
