Father Upset At Health Dept. Over Bats In School

Charlotte -- The father of a student at the Northwest School of the Arts is upset over the way the Mecklenburg County Health Department is handling the discovery of bats at the school in northwest Charlotte.
The health department Monday recommended rabies shots for two students at the school who had direct contact with the bats.
Oscar Lance, who has a child attending the school, is upset that the health department has not shut down the school if the bats are considered unsafe.
A spokesperson for the health department says it had been notified by school officials earlier Monday that all bats had been removed from the school, so there was no need to shut down the school.
But a pest control company hired by the school system found two more bats at the school Monday night.
