Gov. Mike Easley joined area and company leaders to break ground for a new manufacturing facility Thursday in the Danner Industrial Park in Newton.

ZF Lemforder Corporation's new manufacturing plant will supply parts for the automobile industry.

The 150,000 square-foot plant will create 200 jobs and up to $28.8 million in additional investment for the area.

"ZF Lemforder Corporation's decision to invest in Catawba County will mean sustainable, high skill, high paying manufacturing jobs for the area," Easley said in a statement. "This is the kind of work that will not go offshore."
