Family and friends paid respects to an 8-year-old boy who was killed by four pit bulls last Friday while playing in his father's yard.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the New Life Fellowship Church in north Charlotte for Roddie Dumas, Jr.

Hundreds of people attended the ceremony, including some unkown to the family that came to pay their respects.

Police filed drug and weapons charges late Friday night against Roddie Phillip Dumas, Sr.

Officers charged him with trafficking in cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and distribute, maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The district attorney is still investigating to determine if Dumas will face murder charges.
