Tornado Touches Down In Charlotte

Charlotte, NC -- The National Weather Service confirmed Tuesday night that an F1 tornado hit Charlotte.
It touched down just before the morning commute on Tuesday.
It started around 36th and Tryon and ended three miles away near Cochrane Middle School near Milton and the Plaza.
The tornado ripped off the roof of Tryon Auto Mall, damaged homes and trees, and also shattered windows at Cochrane Middle School.
The National Weather Service says the tornado was not on the ground the entire time.
