Tourism Leaders To Unveil Campaign For NASCAR Museum

POSTED: 8:04 am EST March 15, 2005

Tourism leaders in the Charlotte area prepared Monday morning to unveil plans to recruit the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

The Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority scheduled an announcement for 11 a.m. Monday at the Hendrick Motorsports Museum which is located near Lowe's Motor Speedway.

Charlotte is one of five cities which are bidding for the museum.

Three annual NASCAR races pump millions of dollars into the local economy and are worth two billion dollars to the state of North Carolina, according to Humpy Wheeler, president of Lowe's Motor Speedway.
