American Bald Eagle On The Loose

Posted: 10:04 am EDT July 29, 2005Updated: 11:09 am EDT July 29, 2005

Thursday night's storm damaged the eagle aviary at Carolina Raptor Center in Huntersville.

Authorities at the center said all the eagles within the aviary are fine, except for one, which has flown out.

The bald eagle named Garibaldi is missing and will not be able to survive in the wild for long due to an injury to its left wing.

Officials at the center would greatly appreciate any residents who might spot the bald eagle to contact Heike Biller at the Carolina Raptor Center at (704) 875-6521, extension 212.

The center's staff is currently checking nearby grounds. Any additional assistance would be appreciated.
