Freezing Rain, Icy Make Roads Dangerous

CHARLOTTE -- Drivers across much of western and central North Carolina are dealing with a winter system, the first of the season.
Freezing rain and icy spots started to form Thursday night in areas north of Interstate 40 in the western part of the state.
Icy patches formed on secondary roads in the mountain counties.
A light winter accumulation is occurring on trees and other elevated surfaces in areas in Avery, Mitchell and Watauga counties.
Some secondary roads in the foothills have also reported to accumulated icy spots.
As of 11 p.m. no power outages had occurred.
