Salisbury Police Arrest Two People In Drug Bust

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Police in Salisbury arrested two people for trafficking, possession and the sell and delivery of controlled substances.While doing surveillance on a residence prior to serving a warrant on Tuesday, Salisbury drug investigators said they witnessed Lisa Lackey, 39, leave the home. Investigators said when they stopped Lackey's Volkswagen on Klumac Road and found narcotics in the vehicle.Police said they took Lackey into custody and searched the residence at 321 Calhoun Street.As a result of the search, officers seized Hydrocodone, Loritabs, Klonopin, Oxycodone, Xanax, Valium, Lorecet, Concerta, Methodone, and Clonazepan.A total of 684 pills were confiscated along with a Smith & Wesson 38 special handgun, a 12 gauge Shotgun, and $10,081.00 in cashPolice also arrested 35-year-old James Darren Safrit.Burris is charged with two counts of trafficking in opium or heroin, three counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule IV controlled substances and one count of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule I controlled substances.Safrit is charged with one count of trafficking opium or heroin, one count of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule II controlled substances, one count of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule I controlled substances, one count of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule IV controlled substances, and one count of simple possession of schedule II.Both Lackey and Safrit are being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $100,000.00 bond each.
