CMS Schools Impacted By Police Standoff

More than 1,000 students in 52 schools are being impacted by the neighborhood lockdowns enacted by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Wednesday afternoon in response to the ongoing incident on Harris Boulevard.

Parents who live in the neighborhoods within the locked down area should pick their children up at their children’s schools as CMS buses will not be able to travel through the closed area. No CMS schools are located in the closed area.

The lockdown may slow down bus service in other areas as well as CMS adjusts routes. For more information, parents should contact their children’s schools.

Mallard Creek Elementary and David Cox Road Elementary Schools are currently in lockdown as a precaution and to limit traffic in the area; however, parents may pick their children up at these schools. Parents must show proper identification before children will be allowed to leave school grounds. A police office is on site to assist with this process.

Students from David Cox Road Elementary Schools who ride buses 1067, 305, 391, 1311, 1424 were not allowed to ride their bus home and needed to be picked up from the school.
