Students Led To Parents, Buses As Lockdown Continues

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Teachers and school staff led students to buses and parents as two schools on lockdown dismissed classes Tuesday afternoon.Albemarle Road Elementary School and Albemarle Road Middle School remained on lockdown with no one being allowed to enter the buildings.They were placed on lockdown when police searched for suspects near the intersection of W.T. Harris Boulevard and Albemarle Road.A school district spokesperson says police told them the men dumped a car in a handicap space in front of Albemarle Elementary School and then ran.Police think the suspects dropped a gun on campus, so they locked down the elementary and middle schools around 12:15 p.m.Police cars were stationed at the Walgreen's drug store and the police helicopter circled overhead.Officers captured one person and were looking for two more.
