CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Emergency crews were out all across Charlotte Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning after storms swept through the area.
Local firefighters pulled at least a dozen people out of submerged cars.
The water reached the windshields of cars on West Sugar Creek and North Tryon Street.
The Charlotte Fire Department answered calls for water rescues, including one at a home on Dolphin Lane and another in a car on North Caldwell Street.
A number of roads were closed because of the flash flooding.
Firefighters tell us if you see water on the road, don't drive through it.
The Concord Police Department says swiftwater rescue teams saved some people visiting Lowe's Motor Speedway for the RV show.
No one was hurt.
The storm dumped nearly 5 inches of rain.
At the height of last night's storm, Duke Energy reported more than 11,000 outages.
