Frigid temperatures remain for Thursday

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte did not get above freezing Wednesday afternoon, but sunshine managed to melt some snow and ice from secondary roads. Anything that did not dry up Wednesday will freeze solid at night with lows around 10 degrees.

Lunchtime on Thursday will bring an above freezing temperature to Charlotte, on the way to the mid to upper 30s.

The warm up will begin Friday and head into the weekend, as temperatures could reach 60 degrees on Sunday. However, with the warm up comes clouds and a chance of showers on Sunday.

Severe Weather Center 9 meteorologists are keeping an eye on a chance of rain Monday into Tuesday, meaning some drizzle, light showers, and chillier temperatures. The next cold front moves in next Wednesday, and will bring a good chance of rain.

There is a winter weather advisory for areas south of Interstate 40 until noon Thursday for potential of black ice on secondary roads.
