Body of young swimmer found off Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — (AP) Authorities in Myrtle Beach have recovered the body of a young swimmer who was reported missing over the weekend.

Myrtle Beach Police Capt. David Knipes says the body of the 11-year-old boy was found early Monday. The boy was last seen boogie-boarding with friends on the beach Saturday night.

Authorities say the boy was pulled out about 150 feet by a rip current. Other people swimming with the boy said he went under and they didn't see him resurface.

The name of the victim is not being released until relatives are notified.
