Action 9: Man says he had trouble getting money back from company

By Don Griffin

A man said he had trouble getting his money back from a work-from-home company.

Leon Keeling logged onto a website hoping to create income from home.

“I just wanted to make some money,” he said.

He had heard lots of testimonials.

“I just said, ‘There's got to be a better way,’” Keeling said.

But the company, Online Business Systems, never mentioned the type of business it was promoting. It only said getting started would cost $399.

So Keeling gave them his credit card number.

Next, a big box arrived, filled with vitamins and supplements. Unknown to Keeling, he had signed up to be an herbal life distributor.

“I didn't think that's what I was signing up for at all,” he said.

Keeling said he called and emailed his contact person at Online Business Systems to say he'd been misled and wanted his money back.

“She started to verbally berate me, called me a quitter,” Keeling said.

Then, he said, the company put other charges on his credit card.

“A monthly invoice for $100,” Keeling said. “I'm like, a monthly invoice for what?”

Action 9 called the company and left a message asking for Keeling’s money.

A manager for Online Business Systems emailed Action 9, saying they would "chargeback" more than $500 to Keeling’s credit card if he returned their products, and he did.

Keeling has a message about work at home opportunities.

“Make sure you have all the information you need before you go into it,” he said.
